We use this blend as our go-to for espresso drinks, lovingly crafted in our coffee shop here in Big Lake, Minnesota. It is a medium-dark roast, which produces a smooth and balanced espresso without the harsh bitterness or burnt taste found in many commercially-produced espressos.

Our Ember Heroes Blends
This is the first in a line of our Ember Heroes blends. We name these blends in honor of those who live a life worth imitating. The El Jefe blend is named after Jeff Berry, the father of our roastmaster and co-owner, Matthew Berry. If you’re around the coffeehouse frequently, you’ve likely seen Jeff working on whatever is needed. His life of serving and loving simply, and constantly being an encourager, is something the Ember family appreciates and wants to recognize.
Brewing Suggestions
For a fine shot of espresso to start your day, we recommend using a scale. Weigh out 20 grams of our espresso beans, grind for espresso then dose in a double-shot portafilter, tamp, and brew with 200° water for 20-25 seconds aiming for a target weight of 40 grams.
