Espresso Kit
Most of us pull our first shots at home on whatever bag is already open. It works well enough to keep going, and it also means you can spend a month blaming the machine for something the coffee was never going to do.
Two 12 oz bags built for pressure, air roasted in our own roastery in Big Lake, Minnesota.
- El Jefe Espresso is the one to start with. Milk chocolate and molasses, medium dark, soft rather than sharp. Named after Matt's dad. It's forgiving while you're still learning your grinder, and it holds up with milk.
- Bramble goes the other direction. Blackberry, blueberry and caramel from natural East African beans, syrupy enough to stay together under pressure while the acidity stays clean. Pull it when you want the shot to taste like fruit.
The engraved scoop gives you the same dose every time, which is most of dialing in. The Simple Guide to Good Coffee covers the rest.
Pull them both in the same week and compare.
